About the brand
Why DC Shoes are not just another sneaker
The company was founded in 1994 in California by Ken Block and Damon Way. The brief was narrow and technical: build footwear that survives daily friction against a skateboard's grip tape. That is where DC's double-stitched toe boxes, thick tongues and high-traction outsoles come from.
The brand now sits inside the Boardriders group, but the construction has not changed. For a buyer that means one simple thing: a pair of DC will see out two or three seasons where mass-market sneakers give up after one. Which is why DC is bought by people who walk a lot, not only by skaters.

Cupsole
A moulded rubber outsole that wraps the upper like a cup. Holds its shape, wears down slowly and cushions more. Court Graffik, Pure, Manteca.
Vulcanised
A thinner, more flexible outsole with far better board feel. Breaks in quickly. Crisis 2, Kalis Vulc, Legacy 98 Vulc.
Pill Pattern tread
DC's signature tread of elongated pill shapes. Grips the deck and does not slide on wet pavement.
Upper and lining
Suede, nubuck, leather or heavyweight canvas. Lining and insole are textile; winter models add an insulating layer.

Three steps to the right size
- Measure in the evening. Stand on a sheet of paper, trace your foot, then measure from heel to longest toe.
- Add 0.5 cm of room. Make it 1 cm for winter models worn with a thick sock.
- Check the insole length on the product page. Every N-SHOES listing states insole length for the specific size.
DC skate models run in a medium width and stretch roughly half a centimetre with wear. Winter boots are best taken true to size so there is room for a warm sock.
Upkeep
Caring for DC footwear
Suede and nubuck
Brush dry with a crepe brush once the shoe has dried; never wash with water. Reapply a water-repellent spray every couple of weeks, especially before slush season.
Full-grain leather
Wipe off salt and dirt with a damp cloth, let it dry, then apply a matching cream. Refresh the waterproofing monthly through winter.
Drying and storage
Room temperature only — no radiators, no hairdryer, since outsole adhesive does not tolerate heat. Remove the insole, stuff with paper, store in the box.
