CheckoutFashionable summer shoes how not to get confused in the names
If you are over 20 years old, then you could not help but notice how the inner world of fashion has changed. If earlier almost any top was called a blouse, now in your arsenal - blouses, blouses, long sleeves, sweatshirts and so on and so forth. Not spared the exact naming and shoe fashion. It's time to figure out what all these summer slippers and sandals are called.

So, the “most basic” summer shoes are sandals. Sandals are shoes with heels or wedges that may or may not have an open heel and toe. But the middle part of the foot in sandals is always open.
By the way, wedge sandals are sometimes called simply wedges. Platforms, by analogy, are called high-soled sandals - a platform.
In addition, sometimes sandals can be complemented with ties and lacing that support the shoes at the ankle. Do not confuse sandals with straps and ties with gladiators (more on them below).

Sandals are distinguished by a very low heel (no more than 2 cm) or a flat ride. They always have an open heel and toe.
Gladiator sandals, Roman sandals, or simply gladiators, are sandals equipped with straps or lacing that firmly hold open shoes at the ankle. Sometimes gladiators support only the foot and ankle; sometimes they are high, like boots. For gladiators, the straps and ties are very precisely adjustable - a good model sits on the leg like a glove.
Birkenstocks are leather sandals or slippers. Their soles are never slippery. And the most important difference between them is the orthopedic insole. Birkenstocks always have only an orthopedic insole.
Mules are shoes with heels and without a back. Mules can have an open or closed toe.

In modern fashion, only indoor shoes are called slippers, but street summer slippers are called correctly slip-ons. Slip-ons always have a rather thick rubber sole, and never have laces. Slip-ons are originally sports shoes.
Sleepers are more romantic and free in this regard - in fact, the same slippers without laces, but in a more classic form. They are similar in cut to closed shoes, but they are usually sewn from textiles (velvet, cotton).
Espadrilles are a type of slippers with jute soles. In addition, espadrilles often have ankle straps that fit the shoes comfortably and firmly on the foot.
Beach slippers, flip flops, slippers are called flat shoes without a heel. The toe of beach slippers is always open.
It may not be worth talking about, but summer shoes are almost always open, which means that more attention will be required to the legs before the season. Do not wear open shoes if your feet look unkempt - it can ruin even the most gorgeous look.
A pedicure is far from the only foot care when it comes to preparing for wearing summer shoes.
Much more important is the risk of getting calluses. So remember:
- at the beginning of the season, stock up on callus cream, moisturizing foot cream, shock-absorbing pads and patches;
- always carry patches in your purse, use creams every day - in the morning and in the evening;
- you should not wait until the corn appears - the patch should be glued immediately, as soon as you feel discomfort;
- gel pads and orthopedic mini-insoles will help you get used to a new pair quickly enough. They can be bought immediately in the store, when buying a new pair, or can be purchased at a pharmacy.
