CheckoutThe Joma company
Joma (Joma Sport) is a Spanish maker of sportswear, footwear and accessories. It was founded by Fructuoso López in 1965 in Portillo de Toledo, in the province of Toledo, where its headquarters remain. The brand makes equipment for football, futsal, running, tennis, padel, volleyball, handball and other sports, and supplies kits to professional clubs and national teams.
Signing the deal
On 17 March 2017 the Football Federation of Ukraine named Joma the national team's official technical sponsor. From 2009 to 2016 the team's technical partner had been adidas. In 2019 the federation was renamed the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF), and the partnership continued with it.
Debut in Joma
Ukraine first played in Joma on 24 March 2017 against Croatia at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb, in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. The home kit was traditionally yellow and the away kit blue, in the colours of the national flag.
The Euro 2020 kit
The kit for Euro 2020, played in 2021, featured an outline of Ukraine including Crimea and the slogans "Glory to Ukraine!" and "Glory to the heroes!". It became one of the most talked-about kits of the tournament and sparked debate over the use of slogans in official matches.
Euro 2024 and controversy
In March 2023 Joma's deal with Zenit Saint Petersburg became public. The UAF demanded an explanation, and Joma's Ukrainian office publicly stated that it did not support sponsoring Russian sport. Ukraine nevertheless played Euro 2024 in Germany in Joma kits.
End of the partnership
After the contract ended, on 9 October 2024 the UAF and adidas unveiled a new national team kit under a six-year deal. Ukraine first wore it on 11 October 2024 against Georgia in Poznań in the Nations League. The partnership with Joma thus lasted more than seven years.
Joma footwear
Beyond football kits, Joma is known for its footwear. City models in the C. and Zen ranges pair textile or leather uppers with Memory Foam insoles, R. range running shoes are built for training, and football boots are labelled by surface: FG — natural grass, AG — artificial grass, TF — turf, IN — indoor and futsal.
