CheckoutOnline shoe retail
Online shoe retail is the sale of footwear through websites and apps with delivery to the buyer or pickup in store. The buyer chooses a model by photos, description and size chart, and tries it on upon receipt.
Quarantine and online shopping
After Ukraine introduced a COVID-19 quarantine in March 2020, a large share of shopping moved online. Shoe shops switched to order pickup and delivery, and buyers got used to trying shoes on at post offices. Ukraine lifted the quarantine in summer 2023, but demand for online orders remained.
Payment methods
In Ukraine, common options are card prepayment, cash on delivery — paying on receipt at the post office — and paying in store on pickup. Postal operators usually charge a money-transfer fee for cash on delivery, so paying online is often cheaper.
Loyalty programmes
A cumulative discount is a loyalty programme in which the discount grows with the number of purchases. It is usually linked to a phone number or customer card and doesn't apply to sale items.
Seasonal sales
Footwear is strongly seasonal, so shops cut prices at the end of a season to make room for new collections. Large one-off promotions such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday take place at the end of November.
Buyer's rights
Ukrainian consumer protection law allows shoes of proper quality to be exchanged or returned within 14 days if they haven't been worn and their original condition and proof of purchase are preserved. Shoes are also covered by a warranty period.
