How to properly care for suede shoes?

Nowadays, the suede material is becoming more and more relevant due to the fact that it has a good appearance and is pleasant to wear. But this type of material, as a rule, does not have a very good property to deteriorate quickly. Suede must be cleaned frequently and worn carefully.

Suede shoes. She has become very popular lately. It is made from three different materials: suede, velor and nubuck.

Do not forget that the material made of suede and velor should never get wet in the rain and should not wear products made of it in frosts below thirty degrees. This must be remembered for the preservation of the shoe and its long-term use.

What is the secret of caring for suede clothes?

First, you need to decide how to clean your suede shoes. When buying these shoes, you must immediately purchase a spray with a water-repellent effect. It can only be used outdoors, avoiding closed rooms from a distance of no more than 25 cm in order to avoid toxic odors. This spray protects shoes from rapid wear.

Cleaning methods

It is necessary to remember that we only clean dry shoes, using a special rubber eraser. In addition to it, you can use a brush with special coatings, which works both with rubber inserts and metal bristles, removing all dirt and grease from shoes.

The main ways to preserve the original look

In no case should you use the usual means to avoid damage to your appearance. We use cleaners with foam filler. You can try scrubbing the suede material over steam while removing contaminants. With a very large amount of dirt, we use a mixture of ammonia and water-2: 1.

Cleaning suede boots

Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with a glass of milk, or diluted vinegar - for 1 liter, 1 teaspoon of this solution.

Shine brown shoes

We use the most common coffee grounds, which removes unnecessary marks with a brush. After cleaning, the shoes look like they were from a store.

Shine white suede shoes

We use a vinegar solution. After applying it, stir the ammonia, water and peroxide in a ratio of 1 tablespoon to a glass of water and to a tablespoon of peroxide, then soak the shoes. Only after it becomes completely dry, we clean it thoroughly with a brush.

Shine black suede shoes

Here we will be helped by the familiar copy paper or tapes from typewriters (if you find it).

The main rule for caring for suede shoes is to clean them at the end with a special brush, which we always keep at home.

Always clean suede shoes

The situation when a fellow traveler steps on his foot in a minibus or metro is familiar to everyone. It is good if the shoes are made of smooth leather. But what if the boots are suede, home is far away or there is no means for cleaning suede at all? The problem is completely removable if the pollution is not very strong.

For suede, the so-called dry cleaning with a stiff brush or a regular dishwashing sponge (provided that it is double-sided) is suitable. You need to rub only against the pile, otherwise the dirt will enter even deeper. It happens that these items do not cope with a little dirt. As a rule, this is the mark left by the rubber part of the offender's shoe. An eraser (washing eraser) will help here, which also needs to be rubbed against the lint.

Compared to people who do not look at their feet, salt spilled on the roads is a much greater disaster. Unfortunately, in winter, the paths continue to be sprinkled with salt, which leaves stubborn stains and stains on the shoes. A special foam cleaner can help get rid of fresh salt patterns.

But what if the stains are old? It turns out that there are folk remedies, and everyone can prepare them. So, dissolve ammonia in water 1: 5, moisten a sponge in this solution and carefully squeeze out - such material as suede does not like excess moisture. Now you can gently wipe the white stains with a sponge. After that, it is advisable to wipe the shoes clean with another sponge dipped in plain water. Further - drying. Suede refers to such types of leather, which are perniciously affected by temperature changes and direct sunlight - the color changes, stretch marks, retraction and small cracks appear. This means that you must not dry near heaters or batteries. It is best to do this at room temperature.

Modern suede shoe care kits, with components such as a brush, a cleaning gum and a dirt repellent, do their job well. However, their cost is often very surprising. Therefore, those who want to save money successfully use various folk tricks.

For example, it is good to remove minor dirt on suede products with steam and a piece of bread. To do this, hold the boot over the spout of the boiling kettle for a few seconds, and then wipe it with a crust of bread. It is important not to confuse: black bread for dark shoes, white for light ones. Remaining crumbs are removed with a brush or dry cloth.

Talcum powder will help to remove the greasy stain from the accidentally dropped sandwich. The place where the suede "met" with the oil is sprinkled with powder for 15 minutes, and then brushed off with a regular clean brush. It is convenient to remove talcum powder even with an old, coarse-bristled toothbrush.

It is good to dry suede shoes after rain using grandma's methods. To begin with, you should wipe it with a rag that absorbs moisture, and then stuff it tightly inside old newspapers - thanks to them, the shoes will retain their original shape. Then the shoes are left in a ventilated room with a constant temperature.

In order to remove wet dirt from the suede, you need to dry it a little. During this time, we make a solution of soda and milk (1:10), wet a brush in it and wipe the dirt with it. The final touch is wiping with a damp cloth and drying.

Caring for suede shoes at home

Everyone wants to have beautiful and comfortable shoes. Any models made of suede look just elegant and expensive, but not everyone decides to buy such shoes or boots, because it is known that this material requires especially careful and delicate care. How do you need to keep track of him so that your beloved couple will serve as long as possible?

Suede care: rules that are important to follow

First of all, you should remember that this material does not like water very much. Therefore, in autumn and spring, when there is slush on the street, as well as in rainy weather, it is better to refuse to wear such shoes. The best option is to wear it only in the summer and winter periods, when nothing threatens her. Plus:

- for proper care, it is important to choose products designed specifically for suede. The usual cream will not work here.

- Any cleaning should be as gentle, accurate, light and dry as possible. This material must not be strongly squeezed, otherwise its pile will deteriorate.

- In order not to harm your favorite ankle boots or sandals, it is not recommended to dry them in the immediate vicinity of radiators and heaters.

- As soon as a new pair is brought home from a shoe store, you should generously cover it with a special water-repellent spray. The protective agent must be applied to the entire fleecy surface to the degree of light moistening, and then let the new thing dry well. This treatment will be able to protect the suede from the negative effects of dirty gruel on the roads.

- Shoes should be cleaned from dust using a special brush or soft flannel cloth.

- If your shoes or boots have some stains, the origin of which is unknown, then you can try to eliminate them with the help of a store stain remover designed for suede, or an ordinary school eraser.

- In the winter season, boots and boots should be treated with a special liquid-based cream. This will help protect their susceptible surface from snow and water.

- In case of particularly heavy and noticeable contamination, it is permissible to rinse suede shoes in a soapy solution with a part of ammonia.

What to do if a loved one has lost the original color?

Over time, suede, especially natural suede, can fade. To return the shoe to its original color, you should purchase a special coloring spray that matches the tone. It must be applied to the cleaned surface from a distance of 20-30 cm, then leave the treated steam to dry completely. The color will be restored.

Can a crumpled pile be lifted?

Areas of caked villi significantly spoil the appearance of the suede. Such shoes immediately begin to look untidy and even worn out. There are two methods to fix this:

1) walk through problem areas with cotton pads, generously dipped in ammonia. After that, ruffle the entire surface with a stiff shoe brush;

2) hold the desired areas over hot steam, then wipe them with a flannel cloth.

Both methods are very effective. After such procedures, the suede product looks like new.
