Certification
Certification is a procedure in which an independent body confirms that a product meets standards or technical specifications. For footwear it relies on laboratory tests of materials and finished shoes: sole bond strength, colour fastness and material safety. In Ukraine, footwear certification is voluntary.
Accreditation
Certification bodies and test laboratories prove their competence through accreditation. In Ukraine this is done by the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine (NAAU). A certificate issued by an accredited body based on reports from an accredited laboratory carries the most weight.
Hygiene conclusion
A state sanitary-epidemiological expertise conclusion confirmed that materials were safe for human health. Such conclusions were issued by the sanitary-epidemiological service; after reforms its powers passed to other state bodies and requirements for a number of non-food goods changed. Conclusions issued earlier remain evidence of test results at the time.
Warranty and consumer rights
The warranty period is set by the manufacturer. Within it, a consumer who finds a factory defect may ask for free repair, a price reduction or reimbursement of costs, and for a significant defect, a replacement or a refund. A good-quality item that did not fit can be exchanged within 14 days if unused and in original condition.
